Is Phase 2 necessary?

Early Treatment: Why Phase Two?

Early treatment allows us to evaluate your child’s smile and determine the opportune time for orthodontic treatment. We can analyze the bite alignment and the growth of the teeth and jaws to make sure your child’s bones are developing properly. Sometimes, an upper jaw or lower jaw may not grow enough. With early observation, we can prevent overcrowding or bite issues before they become a bigger problem.

My child already had a Phase 1 treatment. Why is Phase 2 necessary?

Phase 1 is what we call the observation phase of treatment. While we may have used appliances to guide the growth of your child’s jaw, braces may still be necessary to fully correct bite issues and straighten teeth. During phase 2, we can determine the best orthodontic treatment to give your child a beautiful, straight smile.

What types of braces do you offer?

We offer multiple treatment options to cater to patients’ individual needs.

  • Self-ligating braces made of high-grade stainless steel
  • Ceramic braces made of clear materials
  • Invisalign® clear aligners
  • Invisalign Teen® clear aligners

Can I wait to complete treatment?

At Gray Orthodontics, we understand that some families may need to put off treatment for personal and financial reasons. However, we strongly encourage you to seek treatment as soon as possible. Delaying either phase of orthodontic treatment can make minor problems worse. This can mean more invasive procedures, such as teeth extraction and surgery, later down the road. More invasive procedures also increase the cost as well as the treatment length.
